Students will work in teams over the semester on real-work problems sourced from across DoD. Think of the course like a senior design project in miniature: you spend a few weeks talking to stakeholders and getting an understanding of the problem you’re assigned. The second half of the semester you will be prototyping and testing potential solutions. DoD is excited to bring the program to UConn and have a group of students so close to multiple Navy bases. If your solution is of interest to your problem sponsor, DoD has funding to spin out a company and bring your results to market. Multiple companies have been started from this program which continue to have defense contracts.
